September 4th, 2019, Waltham, MA; The Fall 2019 Season will officially be upon us this upcoming weekend when the New England Premiership (NEP) kicks off.

To get prepared for the season ahead, boys and girls GPS MA teams participated in a variety of preseason tournaments celebrating Labor Day Weekend.

From the GPS Kick Off Cup to FC Stars Preseason Tournament, it was a great showing by all of our teams who took the field. While winning isn’t the most important thing it is always nice to start the season off with a winner’s medal.

With the preseason over, everyone’s attention will now shift to the Opening Day.

“Opening day of the NEP is always one of the most exciting days of the soccer season and these past two weekends have everyone at the club ready to compete,” said GPS Premier Director Matt Hardiman.  “We are looking forward to a great couple of months and excited to see our players and teams grow in the NEP environment”.

GPS players go through a rigorous training program throughout the Fall Season training 2/3 times during the week depending on their team level.  Training sessions follow weekly themes as designated by the GPS Technical Department’s Developing Player Plan.

The DPP is a comprehensive curriculum that provides players age-specific provision, ensuring players are on the right path to reach their maximum potential.

By employing a consistent curriculum GPS teams are not only reacting to the performances of the team over a specific weekend but are instead consistently introducing and working on key topics all season long to ensure longer-term development.

In addition to the NEP, GPS U8 teams will participate in the club’s in-house Early Development League (EDL) with 3-5 year olds getting their first kicks with the GPS Juniors program. These grassroots programs run across MA and are perfect for players looking for supplemental training.
