August 28th, 2019, Waltham, MA; Global Premier Soccer would like to offer their congratulations to Aki Yuasa on her selection to the US Women’s National Team U-20 Camp currently being held this week.

The camp, which kicked off on August 24th in Chula Vista California, will see 20 players born in 2001/2002 participate in training sessions as well as two friendlies against their Japanese counterpart.

With the 2020 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup on the horizon, head coach Mark Carr will be using the training camp to evaluate potential players for the event. The the U-20 Women’s World Cup will be open to any player born after January 1st, 2000.

“This is the next step for our U-20 WNT as we get to develop and evaluate our top talents with two games vs. Japan,” Carr said speaking to the US Soccer website. “Japan are a long-time world power, so playing them twice will give us a snapshot of where we are, both individually and collectively, as well as the areas we need to improve as we get closer to World Cup qualifying early next year.”

Aki has been representing GPS for several years. She currently plays for Synergy Vermont, a GPS affiliate, where she played alongside their U-17 Boys team. Aki has also represented GPS Massachusetts as part of the GPS MA Elite Red 2002 Girls squad.

Since the beginning of July,  Aki has been in Germany training with the Bayern Munich women’s U21 team. This has not been Aki’s first exposure to the FC Bayern set up as she has been invited to train in Munich on multiple occasions via the GPS FC Bayern ID Program.

The GPS National Team Program Player of the Year for 2018 will have the chance to make her mark and put her name forward for the 2020 FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup squad in friendlies against Japan on August 28 and August 31.
