Malcolm Wilson as VPS Technical Director and Iain Manson as Director of Operations
Burlington, VT, 16th May 2012; Vermont Premier Soccer (VPS) is dedicated to bringing you the best coaching available, therefore we invest a lot in our staff to ensure we enhance the level of soccer training in Vermont. Our staff comprises of Full time VPS Employees who have significant experience in coaching soccer at variant levels of the game. Our staff have attained either regional/national & international coaching licenses to offer high level coaching and education.
“We are excited about our new franchise and we look forward to having an impact on the player development environment in Vermont. We have been active through the spring and will continue to be so, into the Summer, meeting with various soccer programs. We are now pleased to announce the appointment of Malcolm Wilson as VPS Technical Director and Iain Manson as Director of Operations. At least one additional staff member will be also added in the near future” said VPS Director of Soccer Paul Baber.
Malcolm Wilson is a senior coach and educator with 17 years of experience managing all aspects of Premier League Football Club community programs within a region, including 4 years at Fulham FC coaching in the Clubs academy. Malcolm is currently a Vermont Soccer Association staff coach, working with both the ODP program and being a State license instructor.
“I am excited for VPS to be able to employ someone of Malcolm’s caliber. He has showed a commitment to the game by obtaining the highest coaching licenses possible. He holds his USSF A license, USSF National Youth license, National Goalkeeping license and UEFA B License. His knowledge of the game and experience in running programs at all levels will be a huge asset to VPS and the soccer players in Vermont” said Baber.
“We are very fortunate to have Malcolm as our Technical Director and his experience and local knowledge will help us shape the programs we offer to cater for both coaches and players alike in Vermont” Baber added.
Iain Manson, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland has over ten years coaching experience in New England, New Jersey and the UK. Iain joined GPS in 2009 when he first worked for Mass Premier Soccer. He was transferred to Maine Premier Soccer in 2010, utilizing his administrative and organizational skills as both Academy then Finance Director. Through his previous roles Iain has become familiar with all multi-faceted aspects and logistics of running a successful Premier Club.
“Iain has shown that he has both quality coaching and administrative skills. He has been an integral part of making Maine Premier soccer a huge success and now the biggest Soccer club in Maine. While he will be sorely missed from Maine he was the logical choice when I looked at who had the experience and knowledge to help spearhead VPS. He understands how to run successful programs, working with local youth soccer groups and combing his ability along with those qualities Malcolm Wilson brings will give VPS a very experienced management team”. Said Paul Baber.
On the field Iain coached a variety of ages in both NEP, State Cup and USL SYL on both the boys and girls side and had consecutive High School Fall Seasons at Greely HS. Iain currently holds a USSF License, NSCAA National Youth Diploma and Scottish Football Association Level 3 license.
Malcolm has been coaching Nordic Spirit Soccer Club premier teams throughout the 2011-12 season and will continue to be dedicated to his Nordic teams in the 2012-13 season. Both Malcolm and Iain are committed to coaching within the Nordic philosophy, maintaining their commitment to quality and professionalism to help develop the brand, programs and goals of Nordic and VPS by being actively involved with Nordic Spirit Soccer Club.
