Global Premier Soccer and Tidal Wave SC Announce Partnership
Rehoboth, MA, 9th September 2013;
Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and Tidal Wave SC are pleased to announce a partnership that will see increased player development opportunities for youth soccer players in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Tidal Wave and Rhode Island Premier Soccer will come together to form Tidal Wave GPS for 2013-2014 soccer season and join the growing network of GPS clubs across the USA.
GPS, who currently operate youth soccer programs in 10 states, has become a leading source of US Youth National team players in recent years with two GPS players currently in the U-15 National team and three players developed by GPS selected to the US U-17 Residency program. In 2012, GPS formed RI Premier Soccer to provide programming across RI with the organization winning a Rhode Island State Championship in its inaugural year, one of 13 won by GPS in 2013.
Tidal Wave SC has been a leading club in Rhode Island for over 10 years winning several State Championships and has a proven track record of progressing players into the collegiate ranks. Tidal Wave is unique in that it has its own three field natural grass complex in Rehoboth, MA. The fields, the vision of Club President David Tidwell, were completed in 2012.
Tidal Wave GPS will develop new programming out of the Rehoboth complex beginning with a Fall Developmental Academy and a the Columbus Day Tournament - The Tsunami Cup. Tidal Wave coaches will be provided access to the GPS curriculum and players will receive additional development and college showcase opportunities with GPS. RI Premier Soccer will continue to operate programming across RI with all existing Premier teams with all teams rebranding to Tidal Wave GPS. In addition, staff will be offering a number of free clinics in September and October. See here for more information.
"I founded Tidal Wave SC eleven years ago because I wanted to create a club where player development came first. In the years since, that philosophy of a special place for players to come to learn and love the game has not changed.", said Tidal Wave GPS President David Tidwell.
"This partnership with Global Premier Soccer will provide our players with additional opportunities that cannot be found at any other club in the area. For exceptional players that means the potential to play at a Regional level and for some it will offer the opportunity to play at the professional level. For everyone, it will give access to a highly motivated and trained staff that will complement our existing staff very nicely. We will be able to offer a wealth of camps and clinics for players of all ages and playing abilities. I am very excited to be able to expand the spectrum of what we can offer and look forward as President of the club to seeing the young players in our club expand their soccer abilities to the highest potential. For several years now I have been seeking an organization that will help me to help our players in their development, and with GPS I believe that I have found a partner that shares a similar philosophy and love of the game."
“Tidal Wave and GPS have enjoyed a positive relationship since we began developing programming in RI,” said RI Premier Soccer General Manager Gavin MacPhee. “As we both share a similar philosophy on player development, we felt there was a fantastic opportunity to pool our resources to provide a high level training and playing environment for youth soccer players in RI and Southern MA”.
